This past week we went up to Penticton to visit my family in Canada. My sister Shannon came home from Vancouver Island for the weekend and we were also able to visit with my brother Kadu, my brother Geoff and his new wife Amy, my friend Amy and her husband Brandon, my niece Eliza and nephew Ethan and their mom Keran. We spent a lot of time just hanging out at the house and eating yummy Okanogan peaches. We went to the park and attempted a ride on Papa D's riding lawnmower but Evan got scared when the motor started. Evan loved playing with his Auntie Shannon and she quickly became his favorite person around the house. She got him this great little lift-the-flap book of body parts. When she left he went into her room looking for her and waited at the top of the stairs for her to come up in the morning.
On Friday morning Shannon and I went with my mom to her pilates class and then to Tim Horton's afterwards for smoothies and timbits. Friday night we went with Shannon and Kadu up to Kelowna to see Geoff and Amy. We went out for dinner at the Delta Lakeside Hotel where Geoff works as a bellman. We had a great dinner and really enjoyed each other's company.
On Saturday we met up with my best friend from High School Amy and her husband Brandon. We had lunch at Il Vecchio's Deli, a childhood favorite, and then they met us at Sun Oka later for a barbecue. We had a lot of fun at the beach, lots of family and friends joined us: Geoff and Amy came from Kelowna, Keran and the kids from Vernon, and Amy and Brandon from Kamloops. Evan loved playing in the sand and the water. We got him a sand pail and shovel for the beach, we didn't even need to show him how to use it. He went straight to shoveling sand into his bucket. Then sitting in the water playing with sand was a dream come true for Evan. We wished we could have stayed longer, I didn't think he would love it so much, he hasn't liked water other than baths in the past.
The best picture we could get of Evan with cousins Ethan and Eliza

Eating one of Nana's garden-fresh tomatoes, Evan loves tomatoes, he eats them like apples!

Dirt and water combined, a little boy's dream come true!
Sunday we went to church and had a family dinner. Sister Marshall, who taught me as a sunbeam, and Micki Neufield and her husband also came for dinner.
It was a great trip and we really enjoyed ourselves. We only wish we could have stayed longer to play on the beach a little more!
On the way home Evan was an angel and we made great time! We stopped for lunch at the Grand Coulee Dam and visited the visitor's center. We got some great pictures of Evan having fun with the displays.

How awesome that you got to take this trip, and that you live close enough to family to make it possible :). It looks like you had a blast!
