Jocelynn Dawn

On July 17, 2008 Jocelynn Dawn was born at 7lbs and 20 inches. She was born with a lot of dark hair. Jocelynn is John's cousin Tawni's baby. We aren't close enough to go visit but we hope to meet Jocelynn soon and we know that Tawni is going to be a great mom!

Moving On

Soon I'm going to be quitting my job as a nanny and going to school again for 2 years. I've been accepted into the RN program at the local university. School starts on August 18, the same day as my Northcott Family Reunion so I'll have to miss that too. I'm really sad to be leaving Katie but I think that this is a great opportunity and someday I'll be really glad that I did it. I've been with Katie for almost 7 months and I've seen her grow so much; from a tiny newborn to the rolly-poly 8 month-old she is now. Taking care of her has been so much fun, it just reaffirms to me that I want to have my own kids some day and I want to be the one who takes care of my babies, not a nanny. Here are some pictures of her with me and John.

Hurricane Season

Today we had a really big storm here. It rained for about an hour and there was a ton of thunder and lightning that was really close too. Its kind of scary but also kind of cool to watch the big storms here. Luckily this one didn't have any tornadoes like the ones in the past, and it wasn't part of a hurricane. Its hurricane season right now, which is why we've been having quite a few storms recently, but there aren't any hurricanes on their way here according to the weather channel.
Yesterday John and I went to a Cuban restaurant here for dinner. It was this little hole-in-the-wall place in an odd location but the food was great. It was really fun. John has this thin breaded steak that was cooked with red sauce, ham, and mozzarella cheese on top. I had roasted, shredded pork. Afterwards we went to the movies. We actually had already arranged to have separate girls and guys nights last night and going out to dinner was an afterthought. So I went to see Mamma Mia, a girly musical, with my friend Dallas and John went to see The Dark Knight with his friend Mike from school. It was a fun night and we both enjoyed our movies.

Pioneer Day Celebrations

July 24 was Pioneer Day, so to celebrate our ward held a primary party at the church. John and I attended since I'm the Sunbeam teacher right now. There were wheel barrow races, three-legged races, campfire songs, and a potluck. We had a lot of fun. The best part was when John and I raced Kevin and Lisa Brown in the wheel barrow race. The sad part was that while Kevin was pushing Lisa, I was pushing John! Obviously we lost the race.

IV Lab

Last week John learned how to put an IV into a patient's arm. They practiced on each other again. John came home with 3 big holes in his arm from his partner's experimenting. Despite sacrificing his body, John is really enjoying school. He's always so excited to come home and tell me about all the things he's learning at school.

Needles!

Yesterday John learned how to give shots at school. They practiced giving subcutaneous, and intradermal shots on each other. He said that the queasiest part was not giving a needle but listening to the teacher talk about it. He only got nervous right before he had to stick his partner. I'm just glad that he didn't have to practice on me!

Stephen Anniversary Party

This weekend Grandma and Grandpa Stephen invited everyone to camp in Zion's National Park with them to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, we were too far away to attend the festivities but we wish that we could have been there! Some of our favorite memories with them include thanksgiving and playing chicken foot.

Independence Day Celebrations!

For Independence Day this year we didn't have any family to celebrate so we celebrated with friends. I made an American Flag cake and we went to a Barbecue at the Christensen's house with the Browns, the Oggs, and Tiffany and her friend Britni. There were 9 kids and 7 adults in this little house so it was crazy! The cake was great despite its appearance. After the barbecue we went to Hutchison Island to watch the fireworks over the Savannah River. It was really fun, especially because we had kids crawling over us the entire time.
