Tonight John and I watched the opening ceremonies for the winter Olympics held in Vancouver Canada. (Just as a side note, I remember when it was announced that the Olympics would be held in Vancouver. I was working at the drive-thru at Tim Hortins and we had the radio on to hear whether we had won the vote or not. It was very exciting and everyone cheered when it was announced.) This was actually the first opening ceremonies that I have ever watched and it was really neat. The floor of the auditorium was a big projector screen and so it changed and moved to go with the story. The neatest part was when it turned to water and it made it look like there were Orca whales swimming along the surface and blowing water out their spouts. We are really excited to watch the Olympics this year, especially because they are being held in my homeland and province, Vancouver, Canada!
Something fun happened while we were watching the opening ceremonies, it snowed! Even though it was raining in Vancouver, Savannah got up the gumption to snow in honor of the commencement of the winter Olympics. It was the talk of the town and although in most places it melted as soon as it hit the ground most people stayed indoors to avoid dangerous weather.
